We offer two furnitured guestrooms in our farmhouse in the beautiful Concelho de Monchique, near Marmelete. One bedroom has a big double bed and another one has a single bed. Both rooms have loft beds also. The bigger guestroom has a separated entrance. Inside the house you can use the toilet and the shower (cold water only). We also have free Wifi. You are merely invited to live with the community of volunteers and residents. Together we share breakfast and two warm vegetarian meals (lunch and dinner) each day, which is, of course, included. At our bar we serve soft and alcoholic drinks. If you miss something or you have questions, do not hesitate and contact us (see below). We are engaged to make your stay as comfortly as possible! Take a look at the gallery to see rooms.
Our old portuguese farmhouse called “Ameixeirinha” (which means in Portuguese ‘small plum tree’) is located in Tojeiro on a side road in the atmospheric landscape of the surrounding hills and with view on the Foia. Tojeiro was once a small village which old houses can be visited. We don’t have plum trees nowadays, but a big permaculture garden instead with lots of vegetables, fruit tress and herbs we use for cooking.
In nature a lot of nice places await you to relax and enjoy there. You can feed the animals with your kids or explore the enviroment or chill out at the lake! Every friday you can join our great Pizzanight Party in Tojeiro and dance with us under the stars!

Other points of interest
Nearby Tojeiro is a smaller lake and also not far away a big artificial lake, the Barragem de Bravura with lots of possibilities for relaxing, swimming and watersport activities. The dam is 6 km north-west from the town of Odeáxere. Or you just enjoy the beautiful landscape formed by the shapelines of the Serra de Monchique on a wandering or bike tour.
Marmelete, the next bigger village is 8 km away from Tojeiro. The small town provides an ATM, several shops, public shower, restaurants and a fuel station. Near the village is a view point next to the road to Monchique. We recommend a visit at sunset!
Not far away is Monchique (22 km). The small town is not only well known for its thermal bath “Caldas de Monchique” and the Foia (902 m), the biggest mountain of the Serra de Monchique. It is also the capital of Medronho, a local fruit tree which grows only at Algarve.
Medronho is Portuguese and means “strawberry tree”. The ‘Aquadente de Medronho’ is a strong spirit which is distilled mainly in Monchique and the nearby area. In Monchique you can visit the traditional distilleries and try out a wide range of local variations like Melossa, a very sweet honey liquor. Besides spirits a lot of other products made of the fruits like medronho jam and cakes. Further you find unique restaurants and bars like the Bica Boa or the Elephant Bar, a supermarket, post office and a lot of traditional local businesses. Or you take a walk in the park with your beloved ones…
The Algarve has some of the most beautiful beaches in southwest Europe. The coast is not very far away (30-40+ km depending west or south coast) if you like surfing or just want to chill out at the picturesque beaches of the Algarve. The west coast is popular for surfing, at the south coast you can visit the end of the world in Sagres or take a daytrip to Tavira, which is maybe the most beautiful town at south Algarve.
Other points of interest are Forte da Meia Praia and Forte de São Roque de Lagos in Odiáxere. Nearby Mexeilheiro Grande, in Alcalar, standing megaliths on a graveyard from the copper time. In the Centro de Acolhimento e Interpretação dos Monumentos Megálitos de Alcalar you can get more knowledge about the prehistoric place in a kind of small museum. Lagos or Portimao are just 25 km away – the Algarve is here to explore!
